Jrared Blum - Trumpet
Brass instructor, Sacramento native & CSUS alum, Jared is highly passionate about teaching, music, jazz, & brass instruments. Jared is community-minded, volunteering with the Ben Ali Shrine Band and the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band (CHCMB). He also manages First Saturday Jam, a monthly educational jazz jam fundraiser held every first Saturday in Rocklin, graciously hosted by Cool River Pizza. Jared offers lessons in brass, woodwind, percussion, voice, piano, music theory, composition, conducting, arranging, & jazz improvisation. In addition to teaching, Jared performs regularly in many different ensembles, including popular high-profile groups Innersoul and David Perez Band.

Nick Carvajal - Guitar, Bass, Drums
Nick is a multi-instrumentalist with a Master’s in library science from San Jose State and a BA in music from UCSD. Nick has been teaching private lessons on guitar, bass, and drums for over 25 years. Nick has also taught K-6 music curriculum at schools and he spends most summers directing music with Winters’ Shakespeare Workshop.
While music literacy and fundamentals such as theory and ear training are integral to Nick’s teaching, his greatest asset is his wealth of experience in ensemble playing. You can see Nick playing live with One Eyed Reilly, David Nachmanoff, La Carte Blanche, Ryan Thompson, Davis Klezmer Orchestra, Jim Frink Trio, among others, as well as the UC Davis big band.

Kimberly Feeney - Cello, Violin & Viola
Kimberly Cole Feeney holds a Bachelor of Music in performance from California State University, Sacramento, and a Master of Arts in Music Education and Cello Performance from California State University, Long Beach. She recently retired from 35 years of service as a string specialist in the public schools, including 31 years with the Davis Joint Unified School District and previous years with the San Juan and Sacramento City Unified School districts.
In Davis, she taught an average of 350 students per year, serving multiple schools and directing the “Davis All-City Elementary Orchestra,” which she created in 1995. In 2015, she was presented with the “Outstanding Music Educator Award” from the Capitol section of the California Music Educators Association (CMEA). In 2002, she was presented with the “Outstanding String Educator Award” by CMEA, Capital Section.
Kim has served two terms as State President of the California Chapter of the American String Teachers’ Association (ASTA). She is currently serving as Treasurer of the Sacramento Section and State Webmaster.
Over the past thirty-five years, she has held numerous leadership positions with both CMEA and ASTA/NSOA (National Schools Orchestral Association) at both the local and state levels. She also holds memberships with The Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC), and Mu Phi Epsilon.
In her spare time, Kim freelances on the cello, playing in her own quartet and with various orchestras in the Sacramento and Bay areas. She also serves as an adjudicator at both local and state events. She is looking forward to a return to private teaching and expanded cello playing.

Mikey LP -Guitar, Bass, Voice, Drums, Piano
If you are a live music (or local theater) enthusiast and have lived in the Sacramento region since 2001, chances are, you’ve probably caught Mikey LP (Guitar, Bass, Voice, Drums, Piano) hard at work in some capacity or another and didn’t even realize it.
A graduate of C.S.U. Sacramento class of 2006, Mikey has: toured the nation multiple times and even worked abroad. He’s performed alongside a plethora of major label talent as both an opening act and a session player, worked in professional pit orchestras, held several solo acoustic residencies at local hotspots, and has had his original music played on various popular FM radio stations, podcasts and been featured on local TV. Along the way, he’s also taught music to 15 years’ worth of budding young minds. He & his wife and son call Natomas home.

Danny Sandoval - Saxophone
Danny grew up in San Pablo, California, and picked up the saxophone at the age of eight. His love for music led him to the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts in Richmond, CA, where he nurtured his dream of becoming a professional jazz saxophonist. By the time he was sixteen, Danny was already playing semi-professionally, and by seventeen, he was performing up to five nights a week in San Francisco, paying his way through college through his music.
Danny has had the privilege of studying with jazz greats like Tony Archimedes, Frank Sumares, and Mel Martin. For him, the saxophone is more than just an instrument—it's a way to express his deepest passions to audiences everywhere. Now based in Sacramento, Danny works with the California Health Care Foundation and enjoys life with his wife and two children, both musicians themselves.
When he's not working, Danny is actively touring, recording, and playing live music, sharing his love for soul, funk, blues, and salsa across the Bay Area and Central Valley. Music has always been his way of connecting with people, and he continues to inspire audiences with every performance.

Sue Sheya - Flute
Dr. Sue Anne Sheya is a classically trained flutist who began teaching her bandmates at the age of 16 and became a professional musician at 18 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She won the Utah State Senior Winds and Brass Competition at 20 and received a music scholarship to the University of Utah, among other prizes.
Sue studied with Jane Wadsworth and Eric Graf (both students of Julius Baker), and in masterclasses with Julius Baker, James Galway, William Bennett, and others. She has extensive professional performing experience, from symphony orchestras to solo work, across diverse genres such as Classical, Broadway, Middle Eastern, Folk, Blues, and Jazz. She has performed in Salt Lake City, Utah; Reno, Nevada; and Northern CA.
She has been a member of the Ballet West Orchestra, Utah Chamber Orchestra, Pro Musica, the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra, the Pioneer Theater Company Orchestra, the Joe Muscolino Band, and Kairo by Night Middle Eastern Band. She was principal flute of the Camellia Symphony in Sacramento, CA for several years. She has recorded TV and movie soundtracks at the Osmond and L.A. East Studios in Salt Lake City. She is a gigging musician and plays for private and public parties
and events as a freelance soloist or with chamber groups, including the Wyndstrum Flute and Harp Duo, and the Windenbow Flute and Violin duo. She has performed concerts and events with several guitarists, including Michael Lucarelli, Tully Cathey, Milton Jensen, Todd Woodberry, and Elizabeth Busch.
